Blog EntryNO country for lazy peopleNov 13, '08 11:13 AM
for everyone
I hope so. Yes.

Having moved to Germany from 3rd country, Indonesia, had me thinking how creative people in Indonesia to keep alive. As a developing country, where government don't have much money (or not clever enough to arrange the money?) to feed its citizen, people have to find his own way to raise money for a plate of food.

Here in Germany, everything is 'under control'. If suddenly the office you work for is bankrupt, no worries, you will still receive money from Arbeitamts. You can raise money without working, just by making baby as much as you want cos government will pay you per head of kids. If you, as a private have loan to several companies or shops, no worries...after 7 years (or 8 years?), your loan will be deleted.

In Indonesia, if your office suddenly have to close down, then you will down on your knees. Even Javanese people said more kids means more luck, but no one will give you kindergeld, you have to feed your own kids by your own. There is no such thing like Arbeitsamt who gonna help you looking for a job or help you when suddenly you lost your job. If you cannot pay your loan, debt-collector will come to ruin your life. Then here we go creative people; working as a parking man (which you will never find it in Germany), as a car-window cleaning guy, selling fried banana in neighborhood, selling coca-cola, sweets and newspaper around the street (sometimes I miss them when I stuck in a long traffic jam in Germany), reading a poem in public bus, singing door to door and still a lot of things men do to raise money for living.

Weeks ago my Hubby was really annoyed, angry and upset watched Frauentausch in TV. This time the first family is a lesbian couple which one of them (or both of them? I forgot) is a working woman. The second family is husband and wive with kids and none of them have a job. Husband only do lazy day the whole day and wive always clean the house the whole day. Husband is damn lazy that he even reluctant to go to job-search agent.

When they're swapping, wive from second family always complained how dirty is the house from lesbian family (which is in fact not that dirty, it's just like normal house). The lesbian tried to defend herself, said that she has a job, she has to work to raise money. Not much time to do super duper extra clean the house. And this wive from the second family, said so confident and proud to the lesbian that she's happy that even she's not working, she can get money from a worker's tax like the lesbian. She told the lesbian to stop working, just fill some document and she will receive money for free also like her, so she can have more time to clean the house.

My husband said how he feel ashamed as well stupid that so far he has to work hard, never be rich, pay high tax just to feed such lazy people like the second family in Frauentausch. Just for record, some medias said that this Frauentausch programm is kinda fake. They are real people doing swapping but behind it they have to follow the scenario and somehow the story is not true but hello! Those kinda lazy people are really exist! Like the family who rent our flat, they said they don't need to work because government give enough money with kindergeld from their 7 kids. And where the money come from? From a worker like me, like my husband, like our neighbor who always has to go at 4.30 morning for work...

Ironically, the next day after watched Frauentausch, we had visit from social institution, asked if we able to pay 3 euro pro month for donation to an old people caring institution. This is a legal institution for old people, always sick, no family and need help. The institution had to ask door to door for donation because the money from government is not enough anymore. All goes to lazy people?

I love my own quote here :D

Prianya ngapain aja dong...Jalan-jalan nggak pake celana?

"German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday complained about the high number of English words that have been incorporated into the German language"

Reminds of years ago when Indonesia also had same problem and government pushed all public element to use decent Indonesia language. Mal instead of Mall, Plasa instead of Plaza. Hm what else ya? I kinda forget cos its long time ago already. But it was kinda funny  to see all  usual-read English languages were converted into local language. Our eyes and tongue were not used to it. And before government made us use to it, the rule suddenly just disappear. No one care anymore. So Mal back to Mall and Plasa back to Plaza. Well...

Thx in advance

Blog EntryThings He doesn't UnderstandDec 14, '07 1:10 AM
for everyone
OK, old edition...but still worth to read :

Taken from: thejakartapost.com

At this point in life, I'm surprised fewer times than I'd like.  It's been awhile since a movie made me heave my popcorn, or a holiday spot took my breath away.

But having moments with the unexpected is important. It keeps your juices flowing, and your wits sharper than a U-turn on Jl. Sudirman.

If nothing excites, delights or ignites you anymore, then it's time to turn in the second handphone and sit back with the pirated DVD collection of Mister Bean.

I'm glad to report that Indonesia is providing me with sights and situations that keep me healthily perplexed.

You probably have your own collection of head-scratchers.  I wish someone could provide the answers to my list of 35 things I just don't understand:

1) Why there aren't more traffic accidents on Jakarta's insane city streets.

2) How mosquitoes can survive (and bite) in a freezing overly air-conditioned office.

3) Why ketchup is tomato sauce and kecap is soy sauce (although I now know our English word for the condiment is one of the few derived from Malay).

4) Why motorbike racing is allowed at 3 a.m. on the street in front of my apartment.

5) When I went back to a major department store to return a light bulb that didn't work, why the salesgirl, as she handed me a new one, put the defective one I just returned back on the shelf.

6) The low cost of getting a police officer to let you off without a ticket.

7) The high cost of getting a police officer to let you off without a ticket.

8) How often Vice President Jusuf Kalla gets his picture in the newspaper just for showing up.

9) Why there aren’t more places that deliciously celebrate local cuisine.

10) The appeal of American country-western music.

11) Why MetroMini bus drivers believe it's okay to go down the wrong side of the road heading directly toward your vehicle.

12) Why a woman would accept a dinner invitation that was obviously offered with date intentions, then ask if she can bring her boyfriend along at the last minute.

13) How women in dresses can ride motorbikes sideways.

14) Why the government isn't doing more to help the 700 homeless mudflow families in Sidoarjo living in a cramped vendor marketplace.

15) The incredible talent and poise of former child singing star Sherina Munaf, now a mature 17-year-old and on her way to big things.

16) How all the shops in Jakarta's upscale malls survive when I never see anyone buying anything in them.

17) Why my favorite office colleague routinely pours chili sauce over everything she orders, from foie gras to frog legs, without first tasting the dish.

18) Why there aren't more English-language news programs on Indonesian television networks.

19) The tremendous bargains at the Bunga Pasar flower market near Permata Hijau.

20) How Bali manages to succeed as a world-class resort destination despite the lack of memorable promotion and coordinated marketing.

21) Why there aren't more public complaints about the lack of safe and useable sidewalks in the city.

22) Why I'm charged a $1.60 fee for paying my credit card bill in person with cash.

23) Just how much the female singer Retno in the Sunday afternoon acoustic group Cojos at Plaza Indonesia sounds like Karen Carpenter in a headscarf.

24) How someone first thought of harvesting the most expensive coffee in the world, Indonesia's kopi luwak -- beans salvaged from the feces of the civet.

25) Just how normal (and wild) the nightlife is in the capital of the world's most populous Muslim country.

26) What would have to happen for everyone to attend an office meeting on time.

27) Why Tommy Soeharto doesn't make a huge donation to charity to win some valuable community goodwill.

28) Why all ATMs aren't open 24 hours.

29) Who decided that there should be 10 eggs in a carton instead of 12.

30) Why so many people here like to sing My Way and I Left My Heart in San Francisco at karaoke as they do in Japan.

31) How people can gain weight during the fasting month of Ramadhan.

32) Why anyone would want to buy a "Cinderella" trash can from a street vendor while waiting for the light to change.

33) Why the bride and groom can't enjoy more of their wedding party instead of being stuck on stage the whole time.

34) How dark and gloomy Soekarno-Hatta International Airport feels.

35) How much I enjoy life in Indonesia despite having a long list of things I just don’t understand.

Blog EntryGuess Why?Sep 5, '07 4:54 AM
for everyone

Sedangkan obat darah tinggi Amlodipine dijual seharga Rp 94.825 per bungkus ukuran lima miligram. Padahal, Amlodipine termasuk obat generik.(REN/Tim Liputan 6 SCTV)

Coba tebak mengapa?

Karena orang Indonesia gengsinya tinggi, ga mau make kalau harganya murah.

Blog EntryTragedi Permen White RabbitJul 28, '07 4:14 AM
for everyone
Aneh tapi nyata. Anehnya, kenapa baru sekarang ketahuan?

http://www.detiknews.com/index.php/detik.read/tahun/2007/bulan/07/tgl/28/time/102914/
idnews/810517/idkanal/10

(Kalau mau lihat gambarnya ada di sini http://images.google.de/images?client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-
US%3Aofficial&hl=de&q=white+rabbit+candy&btnG=Bilder-Suche&gbv=2)

Barang beredar dulu, dikonsumsi masyarakat, trus baru diperiksa. Kalau aman, jalan terus...kalau mengandung bahan berbahaya baru dilarang.

Aneh. Ngak ngerti ah...

Blog EntrySelamat Ulang Tahun jakarta!Jul 17, '06 6:52 AM
for everyone
(Maaf, rada telat greetingnya :))

Dede tadi barusan nelpon.

Trus tentang Jakarta...Ya, Jakarta semakin keren aja. Cantik! Awesome!

Yeah, seandainya…

Blog EntryMaybe God just wanted to say hi :)May 31, '06 12:39 AM
for everyone
Saturday 27 May around 2am, I couldn't sleep. Woke up many times and heard one single biggest thunder ever heard in my whole life. I had a feeling already that something is happening in my hometown, Yogyakarta. I thought it was the mountain so I didn't worry. believe Merapi wont harm us.

But at 6.15 I got terrible news, its earthquake in Yogya. Not by Merapi but by the sea.

My parents!!
My parents house is only around 13km from beach line, behind Indonesia Institute of the Arts, my university and the tsunami issue really stressed me out. Tried to call my parents thousand time but no gain. Trued to call all Yogya numbers I know and still no gain.

My bf called me at his really early morning and I started to cry. Vonny didn't get any words for me cos I kept crying when she called. Everybody started to spam me with sms and calls but I didn't know how to explain! I need them to help me find out hows my parents! But they couldn't cos they are not in Yogya! Amazingly I could reach Dede and Sinta in Yogya. They are panicking. Everything seemed not good. I gave them my parents number...but still no gain from them as well. Electricity and phone connection are broken.

And my dad is sick. He cant walk without help of his square walking stick or wheelchair when he has to travel. Its hard to imagine hows my daddy tried to escape when this 5.9 richter earthquake happened.

Finally around 11am, a military brought us a good news. Our house had gone but my parents are ok. Feel relieve but I need to know how 'ok' were my parents. Impossible to get flight, my brother in law, a driver and me went to Yogya by car right away after got the position of my parents.

Sunday, 28 May, 3am we arrived Yogya. Passed my university and my head started to spinning. Everybody lay down on the street with whatever light and the main buildings of my university are totally damaged. I really didn't looking forward what I would see the next. Got into my house complex...Sigh...the view is not that different. I started to shiver.

And...
I wish I can describe hows my feeling when I saw my dad laying down on the street in front of our broken house with sky as rooftop. Its my mom tried to calm me down, not me calm her down. I was so sad...and my beloved mom is so tough :)

Then the day started to dawn. The sun started to rise and the candle light started to fade away. Now we can see clearly whats in front of our eyes. I thought its already worst, but when I walked around to the suburb next to my complex...its worse!! I started to cry and ran back to my complex. I cant be a volunteer! I always cry and have no heart to see the fact! Gosh..whats happened to us...God angry to us? Why? or God just wanna say hi?

Saw bad bad condition around me, I should say thx God and feel bless that my parents are okay without any harm. When the earthquake happened my mom hugged my dad, cover him from any material from the top. My dad couldn't run and my mom didn't want to leave him. Ceiling, rooftops, painting, wall, everything fall drop to my mom and she didn't feel a thing. The floor jumped around and water pop up from the ground but she didn't feel a thing. And alhamdulillah they are ok

Before sunset we left Yogya, back again to Jakarta. Overnight in Boyolali for a day cos everybody tired. Here my mom started to feel pain. Her body bruised but its not that bad. Its a miracle :)

Tuesday, 30 May, 1am we arrived Jakarta safely. My parents getting cheer up and the only thing that made my mom worry is only: where we gonna make celebration for your engagement dear Ita? (my family call me Ita). We don't have house anymore...
My engagement supposed to be on 24 June and parents already done with all preparation for my boyfriend visit. Mom is so sad when everything didn't happen as the expectation.

I laughed for this question. She's too much worry about such little thing for that :) I think my bf doesn't mind to put me a ring under the tree :)

So everything ok with my family. They stay with my sister right now. With grand kids there I'm sure the healing process wont take long time :)

But still lots people stuck in Yogya. They don't have place to go. I will go back there today. Me and some friends from Indonesia Institute of the Arts try to collect donations and give our best help for people around the university, sewon Bantul.

And for the last I would like to thank for all pray, support and attention that friends give me. John who never stop calling me to make sure that everything okay, mama Kimberly, Jan Andre, Selina, all friends in Destin and Prestige...hey guys :)) , friends who suddenly show up after didn't have contact for years...(I hate to admit it, but sometimes it natural disaster can gather us) , everybody who really back me up in the most difficult of time...I love you guys...

this buildings no longer there :(

Watched The Da Vinci Code at EX on last Friday. It’s stunning but people who read the book said the movie is awful. Lucky I didn’t read the book then. Tom Hanks with that kinda hair style reminds me to Castello (but in my opinion Castello is more handsome than Tom Hanks hehe…). Some dialogues didn’t translated into indo subtitle. I read in the news that the translator said they only translated the necessary dialogue (!!). Ah. Then around 20% dialogues in the movie are not important eh? I think they just trying to avoid the trouble if they translated sensitive dialogue. But people who doesn’t really fluent in English will miss some points of the movie I guess.

After movie, I attended Chivas Regal regular party, this time in Babyface. Was not really fun there, came too early, still many press n camera everywhere. Me not use to be a celebrities hehehe…My friend had an idea to move out to a gay club and it sounded interesting cos I never been there.
So we were in gay club! Watched semi striptease male. Eeew…it wasn’t generate an erotic sense to us (except my gay friend, maybe :p) but quite fun to enjoy the time there, dance till drop without any worries of irresponsibility act of men hehehe…

Btw from my home to EX XXI, I drove taxi by myself!! The driver was sleepy and drive crazy so I offered him to sleep and I drove the taxi! I only paid half of the bill then hehehe…It happened to me twice! Guess I can consider taxi driver as my next job huehehehe...

for everyone
Pagi ini telat, ke bank dulu.
Bank aneh. Baru buka jam 8.30 padahal gue dah sampe sana jam 8 teng! jam wajib bukanya bank-bank pada umumnya.
Mau buka dollar account lagi setelah merasa dirampok oleh bank sebelumnya. Tapi ternyata bank ini gak even better. Customers service gak tahu apa-apa.

Hmm...
